The Department of Education in partnership with community organizations and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation bring the “Footsteps to Transition” Fair on Saturday, Oct. 22 to Kaimukī High School. The free event targets middle and high school students with special needs, their families, teachers, case managers, therapists, and anyone else in these students’ circles of support.

The Footsteps to Transition Fair connects students and their support networks with the resources needed to transition from high school to college and employment. Leolinda Parlin of Hilopa‘a Family to Family Health Information Center will take attendees step-by-step through the transition process. A youth panel will share personal transition experiences to adult life. Additionally, a variety of state and private agencies will be on-site to provide information about services for students with special needs after high school.

Attendees will also enjoy door prizes and free light refreshments.
