On Friday, May 27, Governor David Ige and Lieutenant Gov. Shan Tsutsui declared June 2015 as Fatherhood Month. Gov. Ige joined Fatherhood Commissioners and other community members in acknowledging the important role fathers play in their children’s lives. Both Gov. Ige and Chet Adessa of the Fatherhood Commission called on their own experiences as fathers during the proclamation ceremony, giving the event an even more personal touch.

Numerous studies have found that families thrive more with an active and involved father. This proclamation emphasizes the integral role that father’s play in their children’s development.

Fatherhood Month will be capped by Celebrate Father’s Day at Windward Mall Shopping Center on Saturday June 18. You can get more information about the celebration here.
