Social Services (SSD): Child Welfare & Adult Protective Services

SSD provides protection from abuse and neglect for children and dependent adults. Our programs also provide safe living arrangements with the goal of reducing abuse, neglect and maltreatment.  2010-2014 Social Services Division Accomplishments

  • Adult Protective and Community Services Branch
    Through its Adult Protective Services program, the APCSB provides crisis intervention, investigation and emergency services to dependent adults who are reported to be abused, neglected or financially exploited by others or seriously endangered due to self-neglect.
  • Child Welfare Services
    CWS programs include family strengthening and support, child protection, foster care, adoption, independent living and licensing of resource family homes, group homes and child-placing organizations. Services are available on Oahu, Hawaii, Kauai, Maui, Molokai and Lanai, with 36 units/sub-units and a staff of over 500.
