Inspections

The following types of site inspections are conducted for all licensed providers:

1. Full licensing visit – A complete review of the licensing rules.

Full licensing visits are conducted annually for providers who have been licensed for less than four years, and every other year for providers who have been licensed for four years or more.

2. Off-year visit – A site inspection to insure that basic safety and health requirements (i.e. background and criminal history checks on all staff and observation of the program) are met.

Off-year visits are conducted every other year for providers who have been licensed for four years or more.

3. Unannounced visits – Site inspections that are conducted for the sole purpose of observing the program and the physical facility, or to investigate complaint allegations.

Unannounced visits are conducted at least once a year for licensed providers. They also occur whenever licensing staff need to insure compliance with a noted rule violation.
