Partners In Development Foundation (PIDF) Contract

Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF) Master Contract with the Department of Human Services

On September 1, 2006, Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF) was awarded a master contract from the Department of Human Services (DHS) to create and implement innovative strategies to better meet the needs of Hawai‘i’s children in foster care as well as the Resource Families who care for them.  Specifically, PIDF’s Hui Ho‘omalu Program (A Group to Protect and Shelter), addresses the identification, recruitment, screening, training and ongoing support and retention of resource families statewide for children and families that are in the care of DHS.

The concepts of collaboration, partnership, teamwork, community building, and resource sharing are infused throughout this new endeavor.  PIDF works with Catholic Charities Hawai‘i (CCH), Family Programs Hawai‘i (FPH), and a consortium of other community providers to advance Hawai‘i’s foster care system.

Under Hui Ho‘omalu, PIDF is responsible for overall contract management as well as recruiting, training and assessing prospective General Resource Families. CCH focuses on the training and assessment of Child Specific Resource Families.  FPH creates and maintains a support system, and provides training opportunities and resource information for the Resource Families.

Ongoing development of partnerships with communities, agencies, organizations, and individuals are keys to reaching PIDF goals.  Together, we can provide a nurturing and safe environment for our keiki in foster care as well as support and increase the pool of Hawai‘i’s Resource Families.
