Message from the Administrator- Lea Dias

The Hawaii Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) works in partnership with consumers, consumer organizations led by persons with disabilities, employers, our State Rehabilitation Council, and other community partners to provide services and advocacy resulting in employment, empowerment, and equality for individuals with disabilities throughout the State of Hawaii.

Vocational rehabilitation services are designed to help individuals with disabilities ages 14 and above to prepare for, obtain, maintain, or advance in competitive employment in integrated work settings. Our specially trained counselors work in partnership with our consumers in order to help them reach their career goals according to their abilities, capabilities, priorities, preferences, and informed choice. In addition to vocational counseling, DVR can provide a wide variety of services to help along the road to self-sufficiency, including but not limited to self-advocacy training, vocational/technical training, credential attainment, higher education, equipment and supplies, technology, benefits counseling, workplace readiness training, and customized job placement with supports as needed.

We believe in the talent and potential of individuals with disabilities. Our values include Respect for the Individual, Integrity, Service with Compassion, and Empowerment. We ensure our decisions and actions are informed by interested individuals and groups. We pursue excellence through continuous improvement.

Welcome to DVR – we’re here to help you achieve your career goals! Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to apply for our program.

Aloha,

Lea Dias, DVR Administrator
