Refugees are eligible for numerous programs under applicable federal and/or state laws, including SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, cash assistance, and child care assistance.

For example, 14 refugees received State Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) – welfare for needy families with minor children – in FY 2017, and 4 refugees received General Assistance (GA) –  cash assistance for single disabled adults – for a total of $20,811 in FY 2017.

For the first full month of FY 2018 (July 2017), 10 refugees received State TAONF and 2 refugees received GA, for a total expenditure of $5,994.
