Routine Maintenance Scheduled on Client Portal

Posted on Oct 11, 2013 in NEWS

The Department of Human Services (DHS) client portal (KOLEA) will be down for routine maintenance 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 through 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. During that time, applications for medical assistance will not be processed.

Anybody wanting to complete an application during the scheduled maintenance period can download an application from www.mybenefits.hawaii.gov, but will need to fill in their information the old-fashioned way – by hand.

To download a family or individual application, go www.mybenefits.hawaii.gov.  Under the INFORMATION heading, select APPLYING FOR BENEFITS.  Completed applications may be mailed, faxed or hand delivered to any DHS office.

The DHS upgraded its 25 year-old database in late September 2013 to meet mandates of the federal Affordable Care Act.  As part of that upgrade, engineers also integrated the Kauhale (Community) On-Line Eligibility Assistance (KOLEA) Med-QUEST eligibility system.  This new client portal is transforming access to medical assistance across the state.
