Feb. 15, 2015 Deadline to Enroll in a Health Insurance Plan

The Department of Human Services (DHS) Med-QUEST Division (MQD) is reminding Hawaii residents about the Feb. 15, 2015 deadline to enroll in a health insurance plan. The MQD processes applications to determine individual eligibility for MQD programs. The MQD accepts and processes applications throughout the year. If an applicant is not eligible for an MQD program, their application information is automatically sent to the Hawaii Health Connector (Connector).
The Connector offers a variety of health plans and determines individual eligibility for tax credits and other help affording health insurance. Applicants must enroll in a health plan through the Connector by February 15, 2015, or they will have to wait until the next open enrollment period that begins in November 2015.
Individuals can apply for health insurance by doing any of the following:
- Going online to https://mybenefits.hawaii.gov;
- Calling the Connector Contact Center at 1-877-628-5076;
TTY/TDD users call 1-855-585-8604; or - Returning a completed paper application. Paper applications can be:
o downloaded from https://mybenefits.hawaii.gov/applying-for-benefits/;
o sent to you by calling 1-800-316-8005; or
o picked up at any MQD eligibility office.
Individuals who don’t know if a household member has coverage in an MQD program, or who have questions about this enrollment deadline, may call Med-QUEST Enrollment Service at 1-800-316-8005 (toll free); V/TTY line for hearing impaired users 1-800-603-1201 (toll free). MQD eligibility offices are open 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Offices are closed on state holidays.
